Jeunes Pls Triumphs in Maracaña Faso Transport Tournament

Ouagadougou:The Jeunes Pls team clinched victory in the inaugural Maracaña Faso Transport Tournament, held on October 4 in Ouagadougou, by defeating Song-Naaba United in a penalty shootout after the match ended 1-1 in regulation time.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the final match took place at the Naaba Wanks school in the Nonsin district, attracting a large crowd. Both teams showed significant commitment, with the game balanced by missed opportunities and the high stakes of the tournament.

The penalty shootout saw Jeunes Pls outperform Song-Naaba United, converting four penalties to win the match 4-3. This victory secured them the first trophy of the tournament.

The event was attended by several government officials, including the Minister of Security, Mahamadou Sana, as well as administrative, religious, and traditional leaders, all supporting the focus on youth and social cohesion.

Organizers emphasized the tournament's message of peace and unity among youth, noting the widespread enthusiasm and the positive reception of their message. Abdoul Aziz Derra, president of the organizing committee, expressed satisfaction with the event's success.

Promoter Abdoul Karim Compaor played a significant role, extending his commitment beyond sports by supporting school initiatives at the Naaba Wanks school, promising further assistance with school supplies.

However, the organizing committee noted some areas for improvement, particularly regarding security around the pitch to manage crowd control in future editions.

With their victory, Jeunes Pls has become the first champion of the Maracaña Faso Transport Tournament, marking the conclusion of an event dedicated to youth engagement and social unity.
