Bobo-Dioulasso:The International Forum of African Teachers (FIIA) marked its tenth edition from September 24 to 26, 2026, focusing on recognizing and promoting the teaching profession. The event included a variety of activities such as a blood donation drive, sporting events, and the prestigious Golden Chalk Awards ceremony, which honored outstanding teachers.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the closing ceremony was led by Professor Moumouni Zoungrana, Minister of Secondary Education and Vocational and Technical Training. He praised the teachers for their significant contributions to the education system, emphasizing that the achievements in various school examinations result from their daily efforts in classrooms.
Professor Zoungrana highlighted the vital role teachers play in shaping the future of the country, acknowledging their dedication in often challenging conditions. He stated, "It is you who, daily, in classrooms, in silence, sometimes in often difficult conditions, have carried out this noble mission."
Lawaly Sidiki Ky, the coordinator and founder of FIIA, expressed gratitude to God and thanked participants, partners, and the organizing committee members for making the anniversary edition a success. He noted that the event was not only a celebration of award winners but also of the teaching vocation, commitment, and education itself.
The initiative included a civic element with a blood donation drive, encouraging participants and stakeholders to support those in need of blood products. Additionally, a sporting aspect featured prominently, with a maracana tournament involving 14 teams. The Gendarmerie team emerged victorious against the merchants, while CEB of Bobo 3 took third place, adding a friendly and community spirit to the proceedings.
A key highlight was the Golden Chalk Awards ceremony, which recognized teachers' dedication. The "Super Teacher" title was awarded to Lamoudi Toro, who received various prizes, including a trophy, a certificate, a housing plot, a motorcycle, and honorary recognition for his commitment to education.
The tenth edition of the FIIA and the Golden Chalk Awards concluded with a tribute to teachers, organizers, and all individuals committed to enhancing the quality of education.
