Helmet Enforcement Operation Leads to Impounding of 77 Vehicles

Cassou:A recent helmet enforcement operation conducted by the Cassou district police from October 3 to 8, 2026, resulted in the impounding of 77 vehicles. The operation aimed to enhance road safety in the city.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the initiative involved checks by the police, supported by the Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP), to ensure road users complied with helmet-wearing regulations. Among the impounded vehicles were 72 motorcycles and five tricycles.

To retrieve the immobilized vehicles, owners are required to present a helmet and pay a fine of 3,000 CFA francs. This operation was part of a broader campaign launched by the Minister of Security on October 1, 2026, to promote adherence to traffic regulations and improve the safety of road users. Authorities are urging the public to adopt helmet-wearing as a routine practice.
