Ouagadougou:The National Coordination for the Fight Against Fraud (CNLF) revealed significant achievements from three raids conducted on September 30 and October 1, 2026, in Ouagadougou and surrounding areas. These operations resulted in the confiscation of various illicit items, including cyanide, contraband cigarettes, diverted subsidized diesel, and counterfeit lubricating oil, with a total estimated value of 55,233,000 CFA francs.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Dr. Mohamadi Compaor, the coordinator of CNLF, reported that these actions dealt a significant blow to the fraud and smuggling networks in the region within just 48 hours.
Dr. Compaor detailed the first major seizure, which occurred on October 1 on the Ouagadougou-Koupla road. A routine search of a truck, supposedly transporting clinker, uncovered hidden cargo containing 50 bags of cyanide and 15 packages of contraband cigarettes, valued together at 10,950,000 CFA francs.
On September 30, in Loumbila, the CNLF discovered a network involved in the illegal diversion of subsidized fuel. A tanker truck was intercepted while unloading 10,000 liters of diesel intended for regular consumption. The investigation found that 59,000 liters of state-subsidized diesel, valued at 31,683,000 CFA francs, had been unlawfully supplied to an industrial unit by a local company.
Additionally, on October 1, a tip from a citizen led to the seizure of a vehicle transporting 267 cartons of counterfeit and smuggled lubricating oil valued at 12,600,000 CFA francs in the Patte d'Oie district of Ouagadougou.
Dr. Compaor praised the public for their crucial role in providing information that led to the success of these operations. He emphasized the CNLF's unwavering commitment to combat fraud and protect the national economy, public health, and security.
