Aubagne:A 14-year-old student opened fire at the Lakanal school in Aubagne, France, on Monday, October 12, 2026, injuring the school's principal and a teacher. The incident was announced by France's Minister of National Education, Édouard Geffray.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the teenager used a shotgun to shoot the 53-year-old principal. A total of four shots were reportedly heard, with the 37-year-old teacher sustaining injuries from pellets that ricocheted off the walls.
The victims were hit in the thighs and pelvis, but no students were harmed during the attack. The suspect was apprehended at the scene, and an investigation has been initiated on charges of "attempted murder" to uncover the details of the incident.
A police source cited by the same media outlet noted that the attack was not connected to the student protests occurring across the country since the end of September. There were no protests reported at the school at the time of the shooting.
Minister Édouard Geffray stated he would visit the school later in the day, accompanied by the Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez.
