Economic Leaders Encouraged to Support Local Products in Koudougou

Koudougou:Economic actors in Koudougou have been urged to enhance their commitment to the production, processing, and consumption of local products. This call came during a public conference organized by the Ministry of Justice, focusing on economic sovereignty in Burkina Faso.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the conference took place in the reception hall of the Koudougou town hall. It was part of the third edition of the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation (JNEPPC), under the patronage of the Minister of Justice, Keeper of the Seals, Master Edasso Rodrigue Bayala, represented by the High Commissioner of Boulkiemde, Salimata Ouedraogo/Sanou.

In a speech delivered at the event, the minister emphasized the theme "Let's produce Burkinabe, let's consume Burkinabe," with the slogan "All for made in Burkina, let's make every purchase an act of sovereignty." This initiative aligns with the Popular Progressive Revolution, aiming to enhance national sovereignty by developing local resources, capacities, and products.

The minister highlighted the crucial role of economic actors in this initiative through their involvement in producing, processing, and marketing local goods. He also stressed the importance of fulfilling tax obligations and fighting against fraud, counterfeiting, the sale of expired goods, speculation, and price gouging.

Romuald Marcel Malgwinde Yameogo, a project manager at the Ministry of Justice, stated that the conference aims to build on the successes of previous JNEPPC editions. He called for increased citizen mobilization to support endogenous development, noting that past efforts had successfully raised awareness and enthusiasm for initiatives such as Faso Mebo and the Patriotic Support Fund.

The event underscored the vital contributions of economic actors in fostering an economy grounded in national resources and citizen participation.
