Residents of Piela’s Sector 1 Take Initiative to Repair Deteriorated Road

Piela:Residents of Sector 1 in Piela have undertaken the rehabilitation of a deteriorated road section connecting the kindergarten to the Daogu departmental high school. The road had been severely eroded by runoff water, making it difficult for residents and other users to travel.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the local community decided to address the issue themselves on Monday, funding the repairs without external assistance.

Equipped with shovels and picks, the residents filled in the damaged parts of the road, while carts and tricycles were used to transport the necessary earth for the repairs. Dean Pori Lankoande emphasized that this initiative demonstrates the community's determination to solve their problems independently. "We have understood that we must solve our problems ourselves, instead of waiting for someone else to do it for us," he stated.

While the repairs have improved traffic conditions, the residents acknowledge that the rehabilitation is temporary. They recognize the need for more permanent measures to manage rainwater and prevent future damage to the road. This effort highlights the significance of civic engagement and community solidarity in addressing local challenges.
