His Majesty Naaba Tigr Leads Effort for New High School Building in Thyou

Thyou:The chief of the canton of Thyou, His Majesty Naaba Tigr, convened a meeting with administrative authorities, educational stakeholders, and the local population to address the urgent need for a new building at the departmental high school due to severe infrastructure deterioration.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting aimed to find solutions for the high school, as the current building is in danger of collapsing. The principal, Boukar Kabr, highlighted the critical condition of the school, emphasizing that the planned renovation is no longer sufficient and a completely new building is essential for student safety.

In response to the emergency, attendees raised 123,000 CFA francs to kickstart the project. A monitoring committee, including representatives from various community groups, has been formed to oversee transparent management of the funds. Contributions will be collected until November 21, 2026, when the financial situation will be reviewed, and construction plans finalized.

The project plans to construct a building with four classrooms and an office. His Majesty Naaba Tigr has called on local contractors to submit proposals for the construction work. The President of the special delegation of Thyou, Rateba Dawega, and Daouda Sanfo, the focal point for endogenous development, both praised the community's commitment and stressed the importance of civic engagement in such initiatives.

His Majesty Naaba Tigr concluded the meeting by urging all members of the Thyou community, both local and abroad, to contribute to the project, recalling past community efforts that led to the establishment of the high school.
