Koudougou:Members of the Sissili Provincial Consultation Framework (CCP) convened for their third ordinary session of the year in Koudougou. The session, held on Thursday, October 22, 2026, was relocated at the suggestion of the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD) and was presided over by the High Commissioner of the province, Twind Isaac Sia. The focus of the meeting included the management of agropastoral conflicts and addressing the epidemiological situation in the Lo health district.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the session was supported by the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD) and brought together administrative authorities, defense and security forces, technical services, and civil society. High Commissioner Twind Isaac Sia expressed gratitude for HD's support, emphasizing the importance of traditional mediation mechanisms in providing tailored solutions to local challenges. He called for enhanced collaboration with local authorities to optimize their efforts.
In the realm of social cohesion, the To-Bieha network of mediators showcased the results of the Land and Peace project. Moussa Tall, head of the office at the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue, underscored the project's significant outcomes, including the involvement of legitimate stakeholders and the establishment of peaceful access to natural resources. He urged authorities to remain attentive to the needs of rural communities, particularly in light of land scarcity exacerbated by climate change.
On the health front, Dr. Aboubacary Abdou, the District Medical Officer (DMO) of Lo, raised concerns about the resurgence of vector-borne diseases such as malaria, dengue fever, and yellow fever. He emphasized the importance of sanitation, personal protective equipment, and the yellow fever vaccine in combating these diseases, noting that the increase in yellow fever cases is due to a "cross-border situation with the Ghanaian district of Sissala East."
In response to these health threats, Comrade Sia urged the population to seek medical attention at the first sign of symptoms and to avoid self-medication. He stressed that timely medical intervention is crucial in overcoming the epidemic.
The CCP concluded by recommending local consultation meetings with mediators and the establishment of a joint health system with Ghanaian authorities to manage the cross-border health situation.
