Kaonsé Youth Mobilize to Build Maternity Ward for Goursi Health Center

Goursi:Boulkiemdé/Nandiala The youth of Kaonsé village mobilized on Saturday, October 24, to collect materials for the construction of a maternity ward at the Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS) in Goursi, Nandiala commune.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the young people, equipped with approximately forty motorcycle taxis, gathered sand and gravel to support the project for this essential health infrastructure. The Goursi CSPS, opened in 2009, lacks a dedicated maternity ward, forcing women who have given birth and other patients to share the same hospital room.

The Management Committee (COGES) of the center has sought the support of local populations to improve conditions for patients and healthcare staff. Boukary Zongo, the head of youth in Kaonsé, praised the strong mobilization and encouraged continuous determination until the project's completion.

Ousséni Zongo, the president of COGES, expressed gratitude to participants and called for more support to provide the establishment with a suitable maternity ward. The head nurse, Belibi Yo, also applauded the community's patriotic spirit and appealed for assistance from relevant authorities.

The community effort included help from a delegation of young people from the neighboring village of Tamissi in Kindi commune and the Nandiala-Goursi School Association, represented by special envoy Bernard Zongo.
