Dédougou:The Minister of Family and Solidarity, Lieutenant-Colonel Passowendé Pélagie Kaboré, recently visited the Bankui region, expressing satisfaction with the women's initiatives supported by her department. During her visit on October 29 and 30, 2026, she pledged to address challenges identified on the ground.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ministerial delegation, led by Minister Kaboré, began their tour on October 29 in Djibasso, Koosin province, and continued to Dédougou on October 30. The delegation visited the Women's House, the peace field run by the Sébé Alla Yé cooperative, a cereal processing unit of the Allah Komi cooperative, and a lowland area in Fakouna operated by a women's cooperative.
At the Women's House in Dédougou, Minister Kaboré noted the effective management by the committee but identified issues such as the lack of fencing and inadequate training facilities. She praised the committee for maintaining the facility well. The peace field in Noakuy, developed by women and men from host populations and internally displaced persons, faces irrigation challenges despite having functional boreholes.
The Allah Komi cooperative showcased the transformation of corn flour into couscous and biscuits, with the delegation touring its newly established production site. In Fakouna, the Senimi women's cooperative, consisting of 77 women, cultivates 20 hectares of rice. They seek support for tractors, agricultural inputs, and a well for gardening post-rainy season.
Minister Kaboré highlighted the importance of recognizing and supporting women's efforts in agriculture and processing, despite challenges in water access and financing. She assured that her department, in collaboration with sectoral ministries, would work to provide necessary support. She mentioned redirecting funds from annual Women's Day celebrations to projects like drilling at the peace field and equipping the Women's House.
Dieudonné Tougfo, President of the special delegation in Dédougou, expressed gratitude for the visit, noting its motivational impact on women. The municipality plans to support the construction of the women's center and possibly hydraulic works.
