Pô High Court Incinerates Over 9 Million FCFA of Illicit Cigarettes and Medicines

Pô:The High Court of Pô has incinerated more than 1,500 cartons of cigarettes and 1,600 packets of prohibited high-risk medicines, with an estimated value exceeding 9 million CFA francs. This action took place on Friday, October 30, 2026, as part of the court's ongoing efforts to combat illegal trade.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the destruction of these items was the result of a coordinated effort between the Regional Anti-Drug Unit and other security units in the province. Legal proceedings ensued, leading to a penal settlement that required offenders to pay fines.

Prosecutor of Faso at the High Court of Pô, Arsène Gaëtan Bansé, commended the Defense and Security Forces for their relentless work in addressing the issue. He emphasized the strict prohibition on importing and marketing such illicit products and warned that offenders would face stringent legal action.

Additionally, the prosecutor urged the public to actively cooperate with law enforcement by reporting practices harmful to public health. He also called upon parents to guide and educate their children about the dangers associated with drugs and illicit trafficking.
