Ouagadougou:Amid the vibrant setting of the 18th Ouagadougou International Arts and Crafts Fair (SIAO), a distinctive offer captured the attention of attendees. Bennice Ansah, the owner of Bennyville Ventures from Ghana, proposed to allocate 40% of her company's shares to Burkina Faso's President, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, aiming to support job creation for young Burkinabe.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this proposal was made during the fair on November 1, 2026. Ansah, who inherited the company in 2007, is primarily focused on assisting in youth employment initiatives through this offer. Her company, established in 1970, participates in the fair not only to sell cosmetics and sweets but also to foster this international collaboration.
Ansah's sister, Anyomi Mawufemor, who runs Edmass Foods, shares the exhibition space and showcases a range of agri-food products. The fair, bustling with activity, features a variety of participants and visitors engaging in different cultural experiences, from singing and dancing to haggling over goods.
The event also sees the participation of Dia N'doula, representing Dia Création from Mali, who values the fair as a crucial platform for international business opportunities. Similarly, Moussa Sanou of the Burkinabe Tomato Company is optimistic about expanding his consumer base through the fair.
In addition to the business ventures, the fair offers a sensory experience with the aroma of fried foods and the lively interactions of street vendors, such as Angéline Bouyaré, who sells personalized t-shirts. Visitors, including families like Emma Bationo's, enjoy exploring the offerings despite the challenges of navigating the crowded venue.
The fair continues to attract significant attention, with many looking forward to further engagements and opportunities in the coming days. Despite logistical hurdles, the enthusiasm among participants and visitors remains strong.
