Gayéri:The Secretary General of Komondjari Province, Comrade Drissa Ouédraogo, led a conference at the Gayéri Provincial High School on October 30, 2026, focusing on educating students about the prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), HIV, and viral hepatitis. This event was a key component of the 2026 National Reproductive Health Plus Week (SNSR+).

According to Burkina Information Agency, the conference was conducted by Dr. Moubarak Tegneri, the chief medical officer of the Gayéri health district. It aimed to enhance adolescents' understanding of the causes, consequences, and prevention methods for these infections.

During the conference, Drissa Ouédraogo underscored the significance of educating youth on sexual and reproductive health issues. He urged them to seek information from healthcare professionals, engage in responsible behaviors, and disseminate prevention messages within their communities.

Dr. Moubarak Tegneri highlighted the importance of providing reliable information, encouraging lower-risk behaviors, and accessing healthcare when needed. He stressed the necessity of breaking taboos associated with STIs, HIV, and viral hepatitis to foster greater awareness among adolescents.

The event included discussions on the transmission modes of these infections, their health consequences, and the best practices to implement in schools. Students were also given the opportunity to ask questions and expand their knowledge on these critical topics.

The SNSR+, operating under the theme "Integration of reproductive health services to accelerate the reduction of maternal, neonatal and infant mortality", is being held nationwide from October 26 to November 1, 2026.
