Milan:The Consulate General of Burkina Faso in Milan has been experiencing a notable increase in requests for information from individuals wishing to travel to Burkina Faso. This surge in interest comes as Italians are eager to witness the changes happening in the West African nation, according to Consul General Rose Ouédraogo.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Rose Ouédraogo noted in an interview that the Burkinabe community in Milan is thriving, describing it as "active, supportive, and well-integrated" into Italian society, particularly in the workplace and community organizations. Despite facing challenges related to administrative procedures, document renewals, and access to housing, these difficulties are mitigated through mutual support among compatriots and cooperation with Italian authorities, whose hospitality she praised.
Rose Ouédraogo emphasized the Burkinabe community's commitment to their homeland, which is demonstrated through support for efforts in sovereignty, security, and development. She highlighted contributions to national initiatives such as the Patriotic Support Fund and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland, portraying the diaspora as a significant force for Burkina Faso.
The Consul General also remarked on the Burkinabe people's interest in the Popular Progressive Revolution (RPP), initiated by President Ibrahim Traoré. Events like the Night of the RPP have garnered attention within the consular district, indicating a strong connection between the diaspora and their country of origin.
The arrival of the Patriotic Movement for Safeguarding and Restoration (MPSR) II has positively influenced the perception of Burkinabè abroad, enhancing their image among Italians and other nationals. Rose Ouédraogo expressed pride in this shift, noting that Burkina Faso's image is now closely associated with figures like Captain Ibrahim Traoré and former President Thomas Sankara.
She concluded by urging Burkinabe abroad to maintain their ties to their homeland, emphasizing that building Burkina Faso is a collective responsibility shared by all its citizens, regardless of their location.
