Koupéla:Moroccan cyclists are shifting their focus from stage wins to securing top positions in the individual and team general classifications at the Tour du Faso. This strategic decision was articulated by Ahmed Rhaili, the national technical director, who emphasized the importance of collective strategy and effort management over individual stage victories.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Rhaili stated that his goal is to enhance the final individual and team rankings rather than to win stages. He has assembled a balanced team to tackle the various stages effectively, aiming to capitalize on race dynamics and opportunities as they arise.
Rhaili highlighted the team's approach in the Bobo-Dioulasso circuit, where Moroccan cyclists worked at the front but ultimately allowed Dutch rider Kerkhofs to take the stage victory. This incident underscores their priority of achieving a high overall ranking rather than individual stage wins.
Despite a puncture setback for Youssef Bdadou during the race, he holds third place in the general classification, just twenty-nine seconds behind leader Paul Daumont of Burkina Faso, and leads the points classification with the green jersey. Collectively, the Moroccan team is second, a mere one second behind the Burkinabe team, bolstering their aspirations.
The team includes riders who joined from various countries, highlighting its diverse composition. As the race progresses, the Moroccans plan to maintain regularity and solidarity to strengthen their standings.
