The Head of State to the staff of the National Gendarmerie: “Let’s work to recover our territory”

The President of the Transition, Head of State, Supreme Head of the National Armed Forces, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE discussed this Thursday morning with the personnel of the National Gendarmerie at Camp Paspanga.

On the occasion, the Supreme Head of the National Armed Forces, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE congratulated and encouraged the gendarmerie for the work done and for the fight that is currently being fought on the ground. He also welcomed the initiatives developed by the National Gendarmerie for the care of the widows and orphans of fallen soldiers.

While welcoming the commitment of the National Gendarmerie on the front line of the fight against the terrorist Hydra, the Head of State insisted on the need to reorganize to mesh the territory.

According to the Chief of Staff of the National Gendarmerie, Lieutenant-Colonel Evrard SOMDA, this meeting with the Head of State was an opportunity for the staff of the Gendarmerie to gather guidance and translate its commitment into the fight against terrorism.

Staff concerns revolved around the deployment of provosts in combat units, the coordination of actions in the field, the need for reinforcement in combat equipment, the management of major incidents and the question of the autonomy of the National Gendarmerie.

In a frank language, the President of the Transition, brought answers to the various preoccupations and invited the personnel of the national Gendarmerie to engage more in the operations of combat.

For the Head of State, “we must leave corporatist ideas and move forward” in the war for the recovery of our territory. “You have to think about the sacrifices you make for the Nation,” he argued.

At the end of the exchanges, the first head of the National Gendarmerie, Lieutenant-Colonel Evrard SOMDA praised the frankness with which the Head of State provided answers to the concerns of the staff. And to mark the passage of the President of the Transition to Camp Paspanga, the Chief of Staff of the National Gendarmerie presented a souvenir gift to the Head of State.
