Yako: Subscribers of the Electricity Cooperative (COOPEL) in the rural commune of Bokin demonstrated on the morning of Friday July 5, 2024, against the suspension of the supply of electricity by the private management structure of electricity in this locality, located about fifty km from Yako.At the call of the Subscriber Coordination of the Bokin Electricity Cooperative, several people marched early in the morning of Friday July 5, 2024, through the different arteries of the capital of the commune, to denounce what they call out the poor management of electricity in the locality.A denunciation that the coordination formulated in a declaration that it transmitted to the administrative, military and paramilitary authorities of the locality.According to the demonstrators, the suspension of the electricity supply has caused quite enormous losses in the various sectors of activity of the municipality.The first head of coordination, Yacouba Ouédraogo cited the limitation of services offered by the CSPS, t he inability to produce administrative acts, the paralysis of commercial activities not to mention the great darkness which reigns in the city at night.'We just want to express our fed up to the managers of the cooperative as well as to the local authorities at the losses caused by the suspension of the services of the local power management structure in the city,' we read in the declaration .In their address, the marchers promised to toughen their tone if nothing is done in the coming days.Faced with the situation which paralyzes sectors of activity, the coordination listed a certain number of grievances in their declaration.This concerns the termination of the electricity management contract by COOPEL for the benefit of SONABEL, the diligent reaction of the State through the ministry in charge of energy for a return of electricity in order to that a sustainable situation be found with regard to the management of electricity in the rural commune of Bokin.On the afternoon of Saturday July 6, 2024, w e contacted the president and secretary general of COOPEL de Bokin, Mahamadi Ouédraogo and Aboubacar Sidiki Ouédraogo respectively, to get their versions.They promised to get back to us after consultation with the entire office.We will keep you informed when we have the COOPEL version.Source: Burkina Information Agency
