WASHINGTON: A demonstration against the NATO summit which will be held in Washington from July 9 to 11 took place in the American capital, which was broadcast by the organizers, the No to Nato association.The demonstration was organized by the joint efforts of more than a dozen human rights associations. Activists gathered at a church near the Capitol. Placards and banners with slogans such as "Resist NATO", "Resist the NATO coalition", "Speak out against the US-EU-NATO axis of domination" were hung in the room.Leaders from numerous activist groups spoke at the event. 'The leaders of 32 NATO countries are meeting in Washington to tell us about the war they will wage over the coming years. And we are coming together here to tell them no,' said Ann Wright, an activist and former U.S. State Department official. The crowd chanted 'No to NATO, yes to peace!' ".A new demonstration will take place on Sunday in the American capital.
