Burkina: The government adopts a preliminary draft constitutional law modifying the currency

Ouagadougou: The President of Faso, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré chaired this Wednesday, the Council of Ministers which examined and adopted several important reports for the smooth running of the Nation, according to the Minister of State, Government spokesperson, Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo.Under the Presidency of Faso, the Council adopted a preliminary draft constitutional law revising the Constitution in its articles 34 and 147.Concerning article 34 of the Constitution, it is paragraph 4 relating to the motto of our country ''Unity-Progress-Justice'', which will be modified. “The draft constitutional law aims to modify this provision and henceforth establish, ''The Fatherland or Death, we will conquer'', as the motto of Burkina Faso,” indicated the Minister of Justice and Human Rights, in charge of Relations. with the Institutions, Keeper of the Seals, Edasso Rodrigue Bayala. He maintained that this change aims to strengthen patriotic feeling on the one hand, and on the other hand to revive the f lame of civic commitment, the same flame which lights the march of the people towards the horizon of happiness.The second modification concerns article 147 which provided that the agreements which establish a Federation, a Confederation or the entry of Burkina Faso into a Union of States on the African level could only be approved by a referendum of the people. “While maintaining the approval by referendum of the people because national sovereignty belongs to the people who exercise it, it was necessary to add a paragraph which allows, depending on the circumstances, the urgency and the cases of force majeure, and after advice from the Constitutional Council to kindly proceed, to the approval of these agreements which establishes a federation, a confederation by legislative means,” explained Minister Bayala.On behalf of the Ministries of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism and Economy and Finance, the Council adopted two reports which respectively establish the Burkina Information Agency (AIB), in Pu blic establishment of the State of an administrative nature and approval of the specific statutes of the new structure.
