The prefect, president of the special delegation of the commune of Tikaré, Kiswendsida Benjamin Nikiéma, welcomed on Saturday the strong mobilization of the community's active forces, which made it possible to plant more than 1,000 trees to fight against deforestation and green the environment.The PDS prefect spoke on August 24, 2024 at the end of a reforestation day initiated by the municipality, during which the plants were planted.'We decided to plant trees to comply with the directives of His Excellency the Prime Minister who, during Arbor Day in Bobo-Dioulasso, invited all Burkinabè to plant trees. It is also to restore the plant cover of the commune, deforested by artisanal mining activities,' explained Mr. Nikiéma.He also specified that a total of 1,250 trees were planted on August 24, 2024 in Tikaré.'A partner supported us with 1,000 plants and all the forces mobilized 250 mango trees. We distributed the plants by village and by neighborhood, and everyone mobilized this morning for the planti ng followed by the maintenance,' underlined the president of the special delegation.The head of the canton of Zitenga, Naaba Tigré, after planting his trees, praised the initiative of the special delegation.In his capacity as traditional leader, he invited his subjects to ensure the proper maintenance of the plants.'We are very happy with this great initiative from the special delegation. That's why everyone came out to accompany the activity.Fruit trees were planted in front of concessions and official structures. I invite everyone to take care of their tree,' said Naaba Tigré.As a reminder, the town of Tikaré is located 25 km west of Kongoussi.
