Former African Football Stars Unite in Friendly Match to Support Burkinabe People

Ouagadougou: A friendly football match was held at the Presidency of Faso, featuring a lineup of former African football stars in support of the Burkinabe people. The event aimed to showcase the firm backing of these football legends to the nation.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the match included renowned players such as Jay Jay Okocha from Nigeria, Emmanuel Adebayor and Mani Sapol from Togo, St©phane M'Bia from Cameroon, Souleymane Diawara and Mamadou Niang from Senegal, and several others. They faced a team led by the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, and his close collaborators.

The match was organized into two 40-minute periods and was characterized by a lively exchange of skills and tactics. In an early highlight, the Presidency of Faso team took the lead with Commander Basile Zongo scoring in the 11th minute. Captain Traor© further extended their lead with goals in the 15th, 22nd, and 47th minutes. Despite efforts from former stars like Mamadou Niang and Moumouni Dagano, the game concluded with an 8-2 victory for the President's team, featuring a hat-trick from Captain Traor©.

Beyond the sportsmanship, the event carried a significant message. President Traor© highlighted the importance of the presence of these football icons, stating that their participation was a gesture of encouragement for the resilience of the Burkinabe people and their leaders. He emphasized the symbolic value of the match in promoting African unity and showcasing Burkina Faso as a welcoming nation.
