210 Teachers Trained in Safe School Approach in Yendabili

Gourma: In a concerted effort to enhance the safety of educational environments, the Basic Education District (CEB) of Fada N'Gourma 1 has successfully trained 210 teachers in the Safe School approach during a two-day refresher workshop held on March 19 and 20, 2025, in Yendabili. This initiative responds to the ongoing challenges of insecurity in Burkina Faso, which have adversely affected various sectors, including education.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the regional directorate responsible for primary education in the East has been proactive in ensuring educational structures can provide a secure learning environment. The CEB of Fada N'Gourma 1 organized this workshop as part of their commitment to upholding the declaration on school security.

Ahadi Idani, the Head of the Basic Education District (CCEB) of Fada N'Gourma 1, emphasized the importance of the Safe School approach in creating a secure environment. The training aimed to equip school principals and teachers with resilience strategies, preparing them to handle potential dangers such as fires, intruders, and natural disasters.

Mr. Idani acknowledged the dedication of the educators who participated in the training without financial compensation, aligning with the vision of President Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, to empower Burkinab©s in asserting their sovereignty.

Participants like Mariam Sana from the private primary school La Paix appreciated the training, noting its relevance in equipping them with strategies to manage dangers in both school and home settings. Ahadi Lompo, principal of Bansoundi 'B' primary school, also endorsed the initiative, highlighting its benefits for the educational community and expressing hope for wider access to such training.
