Kourittenga: A Collective Break to Strengthen Dialogue and Social Cohesion Between Communities

Koup©la: The citizen watch of the Naaba Zanr© roundabout in Koup©la, known as "the Wayiyans," organized a collective breaking of the fast on the evening of Friday, March 21, 2025, at the Koup©la town hall. This event gathered individuals from different ethnic communities and religious denominations within the commune.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the collective break was attended by administrative authorities and took place during a year when the Muslim fast and Catholic Lent coincided. Omar Belemgn©gr©, a member of the Wayiyans of Koup©la, stated the event aimed to promote dialogue between religious groups and strengthen social cohesion. He emphasized the absence of religious or ethnic problems in the localities and encouraged communities to draw inspiration from this example to foster love despite religious differences.

Cheick Zorom©, representing the Ahamadiya community in Koup©la, expressed support for initiatives that enhance social cohesion and facilitate dialogue between religious denominations. He emphasized the importance of peace and social cohesion across the province, the region, and Burkina Faso as a whole.

Moctar Ilboudo, the High Commissioner of the Kourittenga province, urged the population to reflect on those working towards the reconquest of the territory during this period of fasting and Lent. He praised the initiative for its impact on social cohesion, community living, and harmony within the province. Additionally, he encouraged prayers for internally displaced persons in the province and the return of peace and security to the country.
