Burkina Faso Adopts New School Council Structure and Creates State-Owned Transit Company

Ouagadougou: The President of Faso, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAOR‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬¦¡¬° chaired the Council of Ministers this Wednesday. This weekly meeting of ministers around the Head of State made it possible to examine several issues submitted to his agenda and to make important decisions for the smooth running of the Nation, noted the Minister Spokesperson of the Government, Pingdwend© Gilbert OUEDRAOGO, during the press briefing following their work.

According to Burkina Information Agency, under the Ministry of Basic Education, Literacy and the Promotion of National Languages, the Council adopted a decree establishing the creation, responsibilities, organization, and operation of the School Council. The Minister of Basic Education, Jacques Sosth¨ne Dingara, stated that this body will now enable better organization and greater involvement of parents in school life.

This decree is part of the operationalization of the Presidential Initiative for Quality Education for All (IPEQ), aiming to reorganize the support structures of educational establishments. The School Council will replace all existing associative structures such as Parents' Associations (APE), Associations of Educating Mothers (AME), and School Management Committees (COGES). The School Council will include other stakeholders in the educational community besides parents, including school staff and representatives of traditional and religious communities.

On behalf of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Council also adopted two decrees creating and approving the statutes of a state-owned company called the Burkina Faso Transit and Logistics Company. The Minister of Economy and Finance, Dr. Aboubakar NACANABO, emphasized the importance of the State having control over the entire supply chain of strategic products, including those used in mining, hydrocarbons, and materials for the Defense and Security Forces.

Minister NACANABO explained that the transit company will ensure all transit operations for these strategic products deemed important to the State. He added that the state-owned company will be operational in the coming months, ensuring good control over the logistics chain for the importation of these strategic products.
