Zondoma: The Governor of the Northern Region, Thomas Yampa, embarked on a contact tour that led him to the provinces of Passor© and Zondoma. During this tour, he engaged with administrative, customary, and religious authorities to discuss ongoing efforts to restore peace and development.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the purpose of Governor Yampa's visit was to rally community leaders around government initiatives and express gratitude for their support in advancing social cohesion and development within their communities. After visiting Yako, he proceeded to Gourcy, the capital of Zondoma province, where he was welcomed by High Commissioner Aboubacar Sidiki Nab¨. His delegation was also received by His Majesty Naaba Baongho, the chief of Gourcy, at the royal palace, accompanied by his court.
Governor Yampa emphasized the significance of collaboration, stating, "I am here to make contact but also to request your support and blessings in the context of my mission." He commended the chief of Gourcy for assisting in managing the province's affairs, particularly amid the security crisis. He reiterated his commitment to tackling development and security challenges collaboratively.
The chief of Gourcy, Naaba Baongho, appreciated the visit as a courteous gesture from the regional authority, acknowledging the government's efforts in development and combating insecurity. He noted the improved security situation in Gourcy and expressed satisfaction with the recognition of customary and traditional chiefs, pledging the support of the province's customary chiefs, organized in an association, to aid the administration.
Governor Yampa also met with the Federation of Islamic Associations of Burkina Faso (FAIB), the Catholic Church, and the Federation of Evangelical Churches and Missions (FEME). He urged community leaders to promote "order and discipline" in alignment with the second edition of the "National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Civic Participation."
