Ouahigouya: Three official awards have been established to honor producers at the first Regional Agriculture, Environment, and Livestock Fair (SRAEL), which is set to take place from May 1-4, 2025, in Ouahigouya. The awards include the Kuuri d'Or for Agriculture, the Kuuri d'Or for Environment, and the Kuuri d'Or for Livestock, as reported by Issouf Traor©, the president of the organizing committee.
According to Burkina Information Agency, in addition to the three main distinctions, there will be special individual or collective awards and tribute prizes. These are intended to commemorate the contributions of certain actors from the Northern region who are no longer with us.
Issouf Traor© explained that technicians responsible for rural development have been involved to ensure the transparency and fairness of the award process. The regional directorates in charge of agriculture, livestock, and the environment have agreed to define criteria and bring their technical capabilities into play to distinguish outstanding actors in these fields.
The SRAEL, scheduled for May 1-4, 2025, in Ouahigouya, is a requirement of the International Agriculture, Livestock, and Environment Show (SIAEL), held biennially in Komsilga, Ouagadougou. The fair aims to offer rural stakeholders regional trade fairs between the biennial international editions, enabling them to better prepare for the larger event.
The SRAEL rotates across various regions of the country. The Association for the Development of the Rural World (ADMR) sponsors both the International Exhibition of Agriculture, the Environment and Livestock (SIAEL) and the Regional Exhibition of Agriculture, the Environment and Livestock (SRAEL).
