Bam: The NGO ADRA and ANADI have embarked on a new humanitarian initiative aimed at strengthening the resilience of over 45,000 vulnerable individuals in the municipalities of Kongoussi and Tikar©. The project, titled Life Saving (LISA), was officially launched by Karim Ou©draogo, the High Commissioner of Bam Province.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the LISA project is a collaborative effort between the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) and the National Association for Action for Integral Development (ANADI), backed financially by the German Federal Foreign Office. Over 22 months, the project will address critical needs such as food distribution, humanitarian support, and access to water, hygiene, and sanitation through borehole rehabilitation and disaster risk reduction. The initiative is budgeted at 800 million CFA francs.
The project specifically targets host populations and internally displaced persons in the regions of Kongoussi and Tikar©. Edmond Gu©, Director of ADRA Burkina Faso, emphasized that the project represents a sustained commitment to human dignity through localized aid and collaboration with beneficiary communities, respecting their knowledge and aspirations.
Sibiri Wenceslas Sawadogo, ANADI's Executive Director, highlighted that the project will directly impact 15,000 people within the broader target of 45,000. He noted that Kongoussi and Tikar© were chosen due to their roles in receiving internally displaced people from surrounding areas.
Naba Tigr©, chief of Zitenga canton in Tikar©, expressed the project's potential to alleviate the community's challenges and pledged support for its successful implementation. Karim Ou©draogo, the High Commissioner of Bam, assured ADRA and ANADI of the full cooperation of the local administration to facilitate the project's execution.
