Golden Jubilee of Sabtenga Classical School Sparks Call for New Technical High School

Boulgou: Former students of the Sabtenga public primary school in the commune of Tenkodogo pleaded, on Saturday during the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of their school, for the construction of a technical high school with an agricultural vocation. The organizers of the golden jubilee of the Sabtenga classical school pleaded with the highest authorities and partners for the construction of a technical high school in order to train young people sufficiently active for the development of the locality.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the president of the organizing committee, Dr. Ibrahim Mon©, stated that the objective was to pay tribute to all the teachers of this school and to create a framework for consultation for all former students in order to address the challenges related to education problems. Additionally, the aim was to advocate with the administrative authorities for the strengthening of infrastructure in all schools in Sabtenga and the construction of a technical high school with an agricultural vocation.

Established since 1975, the Sabtenga primary school has 6 classes with an enrollment of more than 355 students. The opportunity was also taken to raise grievances, in particular the insufficient classrooms and educational materials to absorb primary and secondary students.

"In view of the many executives that this school has made available to the Burkinabe state, I pay tribute to the teaching staff for the spirit of sacrifice and self-sacrifice that you have shown, I invite the students of other schools to follow in the footsteps of the former students of Sabtenga, in order to support education because it is the foundation of all development," declared the representative of the Minister in charge of basic education, Serges Tiamb¨ Dioma.

This ceremony was marked among other things by the holding of a football match, a women's cycling race, a blood donation, a reunion evening, and the presentation of certificates of recognition to the former and new principals of the Sabtenga school.
