Banfora: The Commune of Banfora hosted the traditional raising of the national colors in the public structures of Banfora on Monday, May 5, 2025. The ceremony was chaired by the governor of the Cascades region, Florent Badabou¨ Bazi©.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the vital forces of the Cascades region mobilized at the Banfora town hall for the traditional raising of the national colors to demonstrate their attachment to the homeland. After the ceremony, Yacouba Barro, president of the special delegation of the commune of Banfora, expressed his gratitude to the governor for choosing the town hall for this solemn event, emphasizing its significance and inclusion in the monthly agenda since 2022.
Mr. Barro extended his thanks to the vital forces of the Cascades region, including administrative, customary, and religious authorities, the Defense and Security Forces, Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), the Dozos, partners, and all components of civil society. He noted that their presence underscores their commitment to a united and forward-looking Burkina Faso.
Governor Florent Badabou¨ Bazi©, in his speech, thanked the vital forces for their continued participation in flag-raising ceremonies, highlighting their patriotic commitment. He emphasized the importance of gathering to honor the national emblem as a strong message to those desiring to destabilize the nation. He further urged the active forces to support the actions of the country's highest authorities in the pursuit of true independence and a sovereign Burkina Faso.
The ceremony also included the presentation of receipts for contributions to the patriotic support fund, organized during the 2nd edition of the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation. Contributions during the ceremony totaled over 3,250,000 FCFA, with an additional 7,324,192 FCFA collected during the April 5 ceremony.
The general director of SN SOSUCO reported the distribution of two receipts: one for the workers' contribution of 2,735,000 FCFA and another for 75,300 FCFA from a special sugar sale organized by the country's authorities.
The next flag-raising ceremony is scheduled to take place at the regional health directorate of Cascades.
