Ouagadougou: A baby girl, approximately one month old, was discovered abandoned in the Saonr neighborhood of Ouagadougou early Monday morning. Found near a kiosk with her layette, the infant was spotted around 6:00 a.m., still asleep and in good health, according to Annick Palm/Bakyono, a midwife from the Tingindalgu Health Center (CSPS) who spoke to an AIB reporter at the scene.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the discovery has stirred strong emotions among the residents of the Saonr district. Many expressed their indignation and concern over the abandonment, while some community members immediately volunteered to adopt the child. Mansour Zongo, a local construction entrepreneur with two wives and four children, expressed his willingness to adopt the baby, emphasizing the importance of responsibility and care for the well-being of the child. Zongo urged men to be more responsible to prevent such situations and encouraged young women to adopt practices that safeguard the lives of children.

Annick Palm/Bakyono advised that those interested in adopting the baby should contact the ministry responsible for family affairs to initiate the necessary procedures. Meanwhile, authorities, including firefighters and police, were expected to arrive for an assessment before proceeding with medical care and administrative actions.
