Ouagadougou: The Association of Muslim Students and Pupils of Burkina Faso (AEEMB) organized a national day dedicated to reading the Holy Quran across the entire national territory on Friday. This initiative was part of the preparations for the celebration of the association's 40th anniversary.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the AEEMB, founded in 1986, is set to celebrate its fortieth anniversary in 2026. As part of the commemorative activities, the association's leadership extended an invitation to all its members, including provincial and university branches, to participate in 40 minutes of Quranic reading, symbolizing the organization's age.
The event at the AEEMB national headquarters in Ouagadougou saw participation from administrative authorities, former association officials, and religious leaders. Notable attendees included El Hadj Moussa Kouanda, president of the Federation of Islamic Associations of Burkina Faso (FAIB), and Commander Oumarou Yabre, president of the National State Security Council.
The Quran reading took place simultaneously in all provinces of Burkina Faso, showcasing the extensive mobilization of the association's members. The chairman of the AEEMB national executive committee, Sada Kabore, called upon activists to pray for the country's peace and stability.
Kabore emphasized the significance of the event as a moment of spirituality, reflection, and prayer, not only for the association but also for Burkina Faso. He highlighted the importance of giving thanks for the 40 years granted to AEEMB, seeking blessings for future activities, and praying for the return of peace to the country.
He reiterated that peace is crucial for the existence and effective operation of community associations and organizations.
