AES countries plan joint information channel to strengthen cooperation

The countries of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES) are preparing to launch a joint information channel to harmonize the dissemination of information in their three member states and strengthen cooperation and unity between the populations of these countries, the current president of the confederation, Colonel Assimi Goïta, said on Sunday."By creating this information channel, the AES intends to promote equitable and uniform access to information for all its citizens," said the Malian president on September 15, 2024, during the first anniversary of the creation of the AES.The project aims to reduce disparities in media coverage and enable better coordination of messages across the three nations. This is a key step in ensuring social cohesion and fostering a spirit of solidarity among the peoples of the Sahel.In addition to broadcasting news, the channel will highlight cultural, educational and sports programs, in order to promote the cultural wealth of the region and encourage exchanges between th e different communities.The project will be accompanied by a series of investments in technological and communication infrastructures to ensure broad accessibility of the channel, both in urban and rural areas.The creation of this channel is in addition to other AES initiatives, such as the new biometric passport, the regional investment bank and infrastructure projects aimed at strengthening the connectivity of the territories.These future achievements demonstrate the desire of the AES leaders to build a space of peace, cooperation and sustainable development for the populations of the Sahel.Source: Burkina Information Agency
