Ouagadougou: Mena archers from Niger dominated the Olympic archery events of the 2nd Games of the Confederation of Sahel States (JAES) in Ouagadougou on Thursday, September 10, 2026, winning gold medals in the men's and women's individual competitions.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the events were held on the auxiliary pitch of the Stade du 4-Aot and were marked by high intensity, testing the precision, concentration, and technical skill of the competitors. The competition was observed by the Chief of Staff, Abdoulaye Ouattara, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Sport, Colette Ou©draogo, and several department officials.

In the women's competition, Niger's Assamaou Issoufou secured the gold medal, surpassing her compatriot Yasmina Maga, who took silver. Mali's Hawa Traor© earned the bronze medal. In the men's category, Adamou Saley claimed the gold medal, followed by Mahamadou Lawal with silver, and Ridwane Sahirou with bronze.

Niger also excelled in the team events, taking first place in both the women's and men's categories, while Burkina Faso and Mali finished second and third respectively. In the overall standings, Niger leads with five gold, five silver, and one bronze medal. Burkina Faso follows with five gold, four silver, and three bronze medals, and Mali is in last place with one silver and six bronze medals.

These results reflect the level of competition achieved during this second edition of the JAES and highlight the quality of the archers from the three member countries of the Confederation.
