Agricultural VDPs Called to Enhance Discipline for Upcoming Campaign in Bougouriba

Leraba: Actors involved in presidential agricultural initiatives in the commune of Dolo convened for an evaluation and mobilization meeting, focusing on improving preparedness for the forthcoming agricultural season through increased discipline, cohesion, and collective commitment. The meeting took place at the Dolo town hall and included the provincial focal point for presidential initiatives, administrative and local authorities, agricultural Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), classic VDPs, and their relatives.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Abel SomE, the provincial focal point for presidential initiatives, led the meeting with the objective of reviewing the past agricultural campaign to identify shortcomings and devise corrective measures to enhance future performance. During the session, the representative of the agricultural VDP presented a report on the previous campaign, highlighting that the results were below expectations despite the resources mobilized and goals set.

Participants discussed various challenges encountered, such as organizational shortcomings and failure to implement instructions, stressing the importance of learning from these experiences to bolster the system's effectiveness in the upcoming season. The discussions also underscored the importance of respecting hierarchy, maintaining discipline, and fostering team cohesion-values deemed crucial for the success of presidential agricultural initiatives and contribution to food security.

The prefect, serving as president of the Dolo special delegation, praised the strong mobilization of stakeholders for the evaluation meeting. He called on the agricultural VDPs to exhibit greater responsibility, attentiveness, and teamwork to improve yields in the next growing season. Furthermore, he encouraged maintaining solidarity and collaboration to tackle agricultural production challenges in the commune.
