AJD and Laabi Jam Promote Religious Tolerance in Gorom-Gorom

Gorom-Gorom:The Youth and Development Association (AJD), in collaboration with the Laabi Jam Association, organized a meeting on religious tolerance with the aim of promoting social cohesion and peaceful coexistence. Municipal authorities, religious and traditional leaders, and members of the Defense and Security Forces attended the meeting.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Amadou Boureima, the second vice-president of the special delegation of the commune of Gorom-Gorom, welcomed the initiative. He emphasized that such a framework offers an opportunity for various communities and religious denominations to strengthen their ties.

The Catholic priest, Father Thodore Kpoda, discussed the pillars of tolerance, which include accepting others' beliefs without hatred, maintaining one's own faith, avoiding hate speech, and prioritizing listening and respect. He encouraged religious leaders to strengthen their relationships by spending time together, particularly during religious holidays and events.

Pastor Pascal Kabor of the Deep Life Church highlighted that tolerance and acceptance are essential for living together. He encouraged participants to cultivate peace and to avoid responding to evil with evil.

Imam Oudraogo Moussa described tolerance as respect and consideration for others, regardless of their religious beliefs.

The meeting concluded with Amadou Boureima thanking participants and urging everyone to contribute to dialogue and communal living. The event underscored the importance of religious tolerance, dialogue, and respect for differences as vital elements for maintaining peace and enhancing social cohesion.
