Ambassador Lu Shan Concludes Mission in Burkina Faso, Highlights Successful Bilateral Cooperation

Ouagadougou: Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ou©draogo received the Chinese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Lu Shan, as the diplomat concluded his mission in Burkina Faso. After three years of service, Ambassador Lu Shan met with the Prime Minister to provide an assessment of the bilateral relations between China and Burkina Faso.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Ambassador Lu Shan expressed his gratitude and highlighted the fruitful cooperation between the two nations. He mentioned that his term in Burkina Faso had been significant and memorable. The ambassador noted the achievements in various sectors, emphasizing the potential for future collaboration.

The Chinese diplomat pointed to key projects like the construction of the Bobo-Dioulasso University Hospital, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year. This hospital is the largest Chinese aid project in Africa. Other notable initiatives include the upcoming construction of a photovoltaic power plant, the establishment of new Chinese companies in the energy sector, and advancements in agriculture and industrial development.

Ambassador Lu Shan reiterated China's commitment to supporting Burkina Faso's goals of stability, security, and autonomous development. He also acknowledged the support Burkina Faso has offered China in international forums and the growing interest of Burkinabe citizens in China, reflected in increased student and business exchanges.

The ambassador's tenure marks a significant period in Sino-Burkina Faso relations, following the reestablishment of diplomatic ties in May 2018. As he departs, his successor is anticipated to continue fostering this dynamic cooperation.
