Ambulances Donated to Solenzo and Tougan to Enhance Emergency Medical Care

Ddougou:Mouhoun The Governor of the Bankui region, Babo Pierre Bassinga, handed over two ambulances to the health districts of Solenzo and Tougan in Ddougou to improve the management of medical emergencies in the provinces of Banwa and Sourou.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the handover ceremony took place with the presence of the chief medical officers of the beneficiary districts, their High Commissioners, and regional administrative and health officials.

These ambulances were donated by the Ministry of Health following a tour by the Minister of Health in the Bankui and Sourou regions from August 10 to 12, 2026, during which the Minister gathered concerns from health actors about the functioning of health structures. Governor Bassinga emphasized that the ambulances signify the department's commitment to addressing these concerns with concrete actions.

Governor Bassinga highlighted that the new ambulances will facilitate patient evacuation and improve access to healthcare for the local population. He encouraged the beneficiaries to use the ambulances responsibly and ensure their regular maintenance to prevent premature wear and tear.

Harouna Sissao, the chief medical officer of the Solenzo health district, expressed relief at the donation, noting that the district had lost all its ambulances in 2022 due to a security crisis in Banwa province. He mentioned that previously, the lack of transport often forced the use of tricycles for evacuations, which was particularly challenging for pregnant women, children, and urgent cases.

Wendzoodo Nikiema, the chief medical officer of the Tougan health district, also expressed gratitude towards the Ministry of Health for responding to the concerns raised during the Minister's tour. He stated that the new ambulance will reduce evacuation times and improve patient care, fulfilling promises made by the authorities.
