Animals Sacrificed in To©c© for Peace and Well-being on Day of Customs and Traditions

To©c©: The canton chief of To©c©, Naaba Saaga, along with followers of the local traditional religion, sacrificed more than chickens for the return of peace to Burkina Faso, the health of the population and personal development, on Friday, May 15, 2026, in Zoogo.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the village of Yaargo served as the setting for the celebration of the Day of Customs and Traditions. The population of To©c© responded massively to the call of the canton chief Naaba Saaga for the celebration of the 2026 edition of the days of customs and traditions.

More than 200 chickens and about ten rams were brought by the predominantly young people for the occasion. The first intention expressed was for the return of peace to Burkina Faso, while the second concerned health and personal development. This ritual was performed by the Bisg Naaba, the designated guardian of the fetish.

Present at the ceremony, Chief Naaba Saaga of the To©c© canton stated that this fetish has long been used by his ancestors to attract rain and preserve peace. This is precisely why the rite is performed at the foot of the dam. 'Those who work for the well-being of the nation will be supported, while those with ill intentions will reap the consequences of their actions,' he added.

On the side of the municipal authorities, the President of the special delegation of the commune of To©c©, Harouna Nana, accompanied by some members of the special delegation, undertook a tour of the great chiefs to wish them a happy holiday and urge them to remain models for peace in Faso.
