APD/ASAFF Consortium Holds Human Rights Capacity-Building Workshop in Tenkodogo


Tenkodogo: The APD/ASAFF consortium, in partnership with the Regional Directorate of Human Rights, Citizenship Promotion and Peace of the Center-East, organized a capacity-building workshop for stakeholders involved in the promotion of human rights. The event was held Friday in the ANPE meeting room in Tenkodogo, under the chairmanship of the regional governor, Colonel Aboudou Karim Lamizana.



According to Burkina Information Agency, this workshop aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of categorical rights, address challenges, identify priority actions, and revitalize the consultation framework that had been struggling to unite stakeholders. Colonel Aboudou Karim Lamizana highlighted in his opening address the region’s challenges, including insecurity, population displacement, and socio-economic crises. He emphasized that promoting human rights is imperative, calling for collective mobilization to strengthen awareness-raising, advocacy, and education activities. He underscored the importance of civil society’s role and encouraged open dialogue and collaboration with the administration.



Daniel Warma, Regional Director of Human Rights, Citizenship Promotion and Peace for the Centre-East, stressed the workshop’s role in facilitating discussions among stakeholders amid a challenging security and humanitarian context. He urged the population to participate actively in protecting human rights, emphasizing that it is a collective responsibility.



Facilitator Eged Magloire Koudougou detailed that the workshop’s first part focused on a general presentation of human rights to enhance understanding of the framework. The second part addressed the instruments and mechanisms for rights protection, aiming for effective participant engagement.



Salif Josias Dabo, PPDH-CE project coordinator, explained that the project seeks to reduce human rights violations through training and awareness-raising activities in three municipalities. He also highlighted social cohesion as a crucial project component.
