Ouagadougou: As part of the Presidential Health Initiative, the army's mobile field hospital has been deployed to Fada N'Gourma, the capital of the Goulmou region. On the instructions of the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, this mission aims to provide free and specialized medical care to internally displaced persons (IDPs) and vulnerable populations.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Central Directorate of the Armed Forces Health Service mobilized a wide range of disciplines to meet the needs on the ground: general surgery, dentistry, ophthalmology, otolaryngology (ENT), psychiatry, and mental health. These teams, drawn from the country's largest military and civilian hospitals, embody the President's commitment to ensuring comprehensive and appropriate care.

Record numbers of patients have been seen in ophthalmology and dentistry. Ophthalmologist, Medical Commander Thierry Zagr©, emphasizes the importance of this mission for treating eye conditions, particularly allergic conjunctivitis in children and cataracts in the elderly. Dentist, Commander Blintim Som©, reports on complex procedures, such as the successful removal of a gum tumor in a 40-year-old patient.

Faced with the psychological trauma linked to the security situation, psychiatry plays a central role. Medical Commander Alidou Willy, a psychiatrist and psychotraumatologist, emphasizes the importance of this care: "Mental health services in affected areas like Fada N'Gourma are in extremely high demand." His team has already stabilized the majority of patients they have treated.

Like the ENT service, which is also experiencing high demand, the range of services demonstrates the relevance of the strategy adopted by the Popular Progressive Revolution. This deployment illustrates that military medicine is also a pillar of support and resilience for the Burkinab¨ population.
