Nayala: The first edition of the Konkoundouin volleyball festival, held from August 29 to 31, 2025, at the Toma multi-sport stadium, reached its apotheosis with the coronation of AS Germinal of Koudougou, winner of the final played on August 30 against AS Nayala. The tournament final lived up to expectations, offering a high-quality match between AS Germinal de Koudougou and AS Nayala. Driven by their efficient service and solid defense, AS Germinal prevailed after a hard-fought match, winning both sets 25-19 and 25-20.

According to Burkina Information Agency, individual awards were presented, including the prize for best center back (AS Nouna), best passer (AS Germinal), best defender (AS Nayala), and the award for best player of the tournament. A special mention was also awarded to the only player to take part in the competition. The president of the organizing committee, Tuina Bagassi, noted that the festival's objective, which is to strengthen resilience and promote social cohesion between populations, Defense and Security Forces (FDS), and Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), has been achieved.

The festival's promoter, Mr. Theophile Toe, expressed his satisfaction at seeing his initiative come to fruition: "The most important thing is that sport wins and that social cohesion is strengthened in Nayala," he said. As for the ceremony's chairman, High Commissioner Honore Frederic Pare, he praised the commitment of the FDS, which allows such activities to be held peacefully: "The government encourages this type of initiative, which contributes to community life. We will remain alongside the promoter for the promotion of volleyball in the province," he assured.

Sponsored by Commander Soabo Karim, the competition brought together seven teams from Koudougou, Nouna, Dedougou, and Toma. The opening ceremony and the final took place in the presence of several administrative, customary, religious, and military authorities. The sponsor's representative, Boro Mathieu, congratulated the organizers and conveyed the encouragement of his client, who was unable to attend.

The organizers have promised to strengthen preparations for future editions to make the Konkoundouin festival an unmissable event for sport and social cohesion in Nayala and throughout the Boucle du Mouhoun.
