Ouagadougou: The Taanyenma Association of Youth of the Department of Manni (ATJDM) mobilized all of its members and the population of Manni this weekend for the rehabilitation of a section of National Route No. 18 (RN18) crossing the city, which was severely degraded by erosion.

According to Burkina Information Agency, in a drive to protect road users, ATJDM launched a citizen appeal which was met with a massive response from the population. Women, young people, adults, customary chiefs, religious authorities, and supporters joined the initiative. Equipped with tricycles, carts, or bags, participants transported pebbles, sand, and gravel to the site, while others focused on sorting, filling, leveling, and compacting the road section.

The president of ATJDM, Bourgou Kambagui, expressed gratitude for the community's mobilization. He reiterated that his association's primary objective is to actively contribute to the well-being of the population through actions that support the authorities in the successful implementation of local development. Present and actively involved at the site, the Secretary General of the municipality, Coulidiati T. Lazare, congratulated and encouraged the members of ATJDM, while inviting other organizations in the municipality to engage in similar civic actions. 'The road to development passes through the development of roads,' he declared, adding that the intervention of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) within cities also requires good roads.

Generous donors contributed financially, amounting to approximately 342,000 CFA francs, which organizers say will allow them to purchase aggregates to continue work at another identified site. Other in-kind contributions, including water, empty bags, carts, and tricycles, also facilitated the progress of the work. The women of Manni played a significant part in this activity, illustrating their commitment to the development of their community.
