Houet: Authorities inquire about the progress of the dredging of the Toussiana dam. A joint delegation from the municipal authorities of Toussiana and the General Directorate of the Cascades Water Agency (AEC) carried out a field visit on Friday to the site of the Toussiana dam, which is currently being dredged.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Toussiana dam, constructed in the early 1980s, has faced challenges of erosion and siltation over the years, reducing its storage capacity significantly. In response, the authorities initiated a desilting operation to restore its functionality. The visit aimed to evaluate the progress and completion rate of the dredging work. Of an estimated 1,428,000 m³ of sand accumulation, 21,400 m³ are being addressed in this phase, with the work reported to be 90.19% complete after 45 days, within a contractual timeframe of 120 days.

Comrade Zabsonre/Dabone Cecile, President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of Toussiana, expressed satisfaction with the project's progress. She emphasized the importance of ensuring the smooth progress of the work and commended the initiative. The Cascades Water Agency (AEC), responsible for managing water resources in the Leraba and Comoe regions, also underscored the significance of the visit. Arnold Nesta Da Sie of the AEC highlighted their support for the national vision and expressed satisfaction with the quality and advancement of the work.

The head of the inspection office discussed logistical challenges but assured the delegation of the company's dedication to delivering a high-quality project within the set deadlines. Both local authorities and the AEC reiterated their commitment to monitoring this strategic project, vital for the socio-economic development of the Toussiana municipality.
