Ouagadougou: The Boromo health district paid tribute to Community Health Workers (CHWs) during the 6th edition of the Night of Excellence at the Padia Plus cultural space. The event highlighted their vital role in improving healthcare accessibility and quality for over 366,000 residents.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Boromo health district has experienced notable improvements over the past four years due to the unwavering support of CHWs. Key indicators such as maternal and child health have shown progress, with maternal deaths decreasing from over 11 to 3 in 2025, assisted births rising from 100 to over 152, and malaria-related deaths decreasing from 2 in 2021 to 1.2 in 2025.

The improvement in healthcare quality is attributed to the dedication of community workers who often operate under challenging conditions to save lives. As Hyppolite K Bouda, the chief medical officer of the Boromo health district, emphasized, "The ASBCs are the first link in our chain, allowing health to reach areas where structures cannot."

Comrade Hyppolite K Bouda expressed gratitude to these workers and the communities supporting them. The event, themed "Community Health Workers at the Heart of Community Health," was chaired by Comrade Martin Bako, High Commissioner of the Bal© Province, and recognized the contributions of health workers and organizations.

Dr. Didier Dipama, the regional health director of Bankui, highlighted community health as a pillar of the healthcare system, emphasizing the preventive aspect that enhances population health. He acknowledged that community health workers are central to this approach.

The provincial authority commended all health workers for their daily efforts under challenging circumstances, especially during the ongoing revolution for national sovereignty. He concluded, "We are in a revolution, and a revolutionary is someone who is efficient, delivering results with limited resources."
