Banwa/USSUBF provincial final: The Bèna team defeats the Banwa provincial high school on penaltiesCameroon Secures 17th place at the All African games

The Bèna high school team defeated the Banwa provincial high school team in the penalty shootout with a score of 5 goals to 3, on Friday March 22, 2024 on the Solenzo A school field, as part of the final of the provincial School and University Sports Union of Burkina Faso (USSUBF)

This final of the Burkina Faso School and University Sports Union (USSUBF) in under-17 football experienced its apotheosis in front of a huge crowd.

The High Commissioner of the Banwa province, Oumarou Sandwidi, asked for a minute of silence in memory of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) who fell in Burkina for the defense of the homeland.

‘Thanks to the FDS and VDP, life has returned to Solenzo and it is still thanks to them that we are at this final,’ said the High Commissioner in his message.

The team from Bèna, a village located 15 km from Solenzo, was dressed in red and blue and that of the LPB in green.

According to the provincial director of sports and leisure
and president of the organizing committee, Abdoulaye Zongo, the finalist team should go to Dedougou for the regional level.

At the kick-off in the second minute, a hand fault by a player from the Bèna team led to a penalty which was awarded by the LPB.

The public did not bargain for their participation in this final.

Cries of encouragement, applause and calls from supporters resounded here and there because everyone hopes to see their team win and be in Dédougou or at the national level.

The score remained unchanged until the 78th minute when the Bèna team in a counter-attack equalized and the score was 1 goal everywhere.

The refereeing staff invites the players to take penalties and this is how the Bèna team wins the trophy with 5 successful shots against 3 from the LPB.
