Ouagadougou: The Chief Medical Officer of the Baskuy health district, Dr. Natogma Ursule Bambara, expressed satisfaction with the 83.6% execution rate of activities planned for 2025 during the second Health Council meeting of the district. This achievement is seen as a significant contribution to enhancing the health outcomes for the local population.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Dr. Bambara addressed the assembly during the meeting held in Ouagadougou, which was presided over by the High Commissioner of Kadiogo Province. The gathering brought together key stakeholders, including Presidents of the Special Delegations from districts 1 and 2, health facility heads, management committee presidents, and technical and financial partners of the district. Dr. Bambara emphasized the importance of the District Health Conference (DHC) as a platform for discussing health-related challenges and advancements.

The meeting highlighted the need to review the 2025 activities and identify areas of improvement to address the challenges of 2026. The discussions focused on the physical progress of the 2025 action plan and the epidemiological surveillance of malaria. The district implemented several strategies to combat malaria, including the distribution of insecticide-treated bed nets, malaria vaccination, and seasonal malaria chemoprevention. These measures successfully reduced malaria incidence from 717.7 to 468.1 per 1,000 children under five.

Dr. Bambara acknowledged the financial constraints that hindered the implementation of certain activities, but expressed optimism about finding alternatives to ensure the health system's effectiveness. Boukari Sawadogo, the representative of the High Commissioner and president of the Baskuy District Health Council, praised the district's management team and all stakeholders for their dedication to improving public health.

The Baskuy health district comprises 12 public and 92 private health facilities, serving a population of over 200,000 people.
