Bazega Province Middle School Students Set to Receive Integrity Education

Bazega: The Kombissiri Provincial High School became the focal point on January 12, 2026, for the official roll-out of a new civic and patriotic education program aimed at middle school and high school students in Bazega Province. This initiative seeks to foster a culture of civic responsibility and patriotism, shaping future citizens with strong ethical values.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Provincial Directorate of Secondary Education and Vocational Training (DPESFPT) of Bazega introduced the civic and patriotic education (ECP) program targeting students in intermediate grades at post-primary and secondary schools across the region. This project emerges from presidential directives aimed at enhancing the quality of education.

Following a government decree issued on June 24, 2025, Burkina Faso mandated patriotic immersion for all post-primary and secondary students who are preparing for their exams. Bozie Edwige Marie Gilberte Some, the provincial director of secondary, vocational, and technical education for Bazega, highlighted the program's role in instilling essential civic and patriotic values in students, which are crucial both for societal benefit and personal growth.

The training program is set to unfold in three phases throughout the academic year, engaging around 8,129 students from 64 public and private schools in Bazega. The curriculum will encompass both practical drills and physical exercises led by the Defense and Security Forces, alongside theoretical modules.

The theoretical instruction will cover topics such as drug prevention, school violence, eco-citizenship, civic and cultural values, and fostering a spirit of solidarity and community in schools. These modules will be delivered by the Defense and Security Forces, relevant provincial directorates, and volunteer facilitators from the schools involved.

Health professionals will contribute by offering health coverage, conducting awareness campaigns, and organizing blood donation drives to support the activities. The launch event of the ECP at Kombissiri Provincial High School, overseen by the High Commissioner of Bazega Province, Ms. Tene Justine Kientega/Ilboudo, saw participation from 934 middle school students.

The event concluded with evident enthusiasm from the students, underscoring the initiative's significance and its potential to nurture upright and patriotic citizens in Burkina Faso.
