Baz¨ga: The NGO Convoy of Hope provided 500 producers with agricultural input kits on Tuesday in Guirgo (a village in the commune of Kombissiri), marking the launch of the wet farming season in the province. The aim is to boost their production during the season.
According to Burkina Information Agency, there are 500 producers, including 300 from the Baz¨ga province, who have received agricultural input kits from the NGO Convoy of Hope, intended to improve their production during the 2025 wet agricultural season. This handover marks the official launch of the wet agricultural campaign in the province of Baz¨ga.
The beneficiaries of these kits are parents of students from partner schools of the NGO Convoy of Hope. Each kit consists of 3 bags of fertilizer, 15 kg of corn seed, 8 kg of bean seed, and phytosanitary products for plant treatment. In addition to this kit, each producer benefits from technical support from sowing to harvesting and conservation.
For the national director of Convoy of Hope, Pastor Jules Compaor©, this support aims to strengthen the production capacities of parents of students to sustainably improve the living conditions of families and, by extension, the well-being of children enrolled in the NGO's partner schools. "Instead of giving them fish, we want to teach them how to fish," he added to justify this support for parents of students.
According to the provincial director in charge of basic education in Baz¨ga, Claude Ou©draogo, the support of parents to increase their production will contribute to improving students' success rates and their retention in the school curriculum in the municipalities where the NGO operates.
The High Commissioner of the province of Baz¨ga, T©n© Justine Kientega/Ilboudo, welcomed the gesture of Convoy of Hope. For her, this initiative by the NGO is in line with the logic of the 2023-2025 Agro-pastoral Offensive adopted by the Government of Burkina Faso, which aims for food sovereignty and the reduction of poverty.
The NGO Convoy of Hope, present in Burkina Faso since 2019, works in student nutrition through school canteens, agriculture, women's empowerment, and the awakening of young girls and boys.
