Biba A School Secures Victory in OSCLEP 2026 Football Final Against Zar¨

Nayala: The football final held in Biba marked the conclusion of the Organization of Sport, Culture and Leisure in Primary School (OSCLEP) 2026 activities within the Yaba Basic Education District (CEB). The Biba A team triumphed over the Zar¨ team with a 3-2 win on penalties after a challenging match.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this OSCLEP edition themed "Creativity and promotion of citizenship through sport and culture" brought together 21 schools to compete in various sporting and cultural events, which included football, athletics, wrestling, lip-syncing, and artistic performances.

The closing ceremony drew the presence of educational, administrative, and traditional authorities, along with spectators who supported the finalists. Held in Biba, a village that has been a symbol of resilience since its resettlement two years prior, the event commenced with students performing the national anthem in the San language.

Thomas Garan©, the provincial director of preschool, primary and non-formal education in Nayala, commended the educational actors of Yaba's CEB for their perseverance amid challenging security conditions. He also encouraged the continuation of sports and cultural activities as platforms for civic education.

The CCEB of Yaba expressed appreciation for the dedication of teachers, students, education partners, and security forces, including the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland, for their contributions to maintaining educational continuity.

Jean-Baptiste Ki, representing the sponsors, reiterated his commitment to supporting educational initiatives, emphasizing the importance of investing in youth for societal development. "Supporting our youth means sowing the seeds of excellence," he stated.

On the field, the football match saw Biba A school face off against Zar¨ school. After a scoreless first half and a tightly contested game, penalties decided the outcome. Biba A's victory, with a 3-2 score, secured them the trophy, a ball, and a set of jerseys.
